Faith and Health Unite: Celebrating No Menthol Sunday 2025 in Sacramento County

On May 19, 2025, The SOL Project proudly partnered with faith-based communities across Sacramento County to observe No Menthol Sunday, an annual initiative led by The Center for Black Health & Equity. This day serves as a national call to action, highlighting the detrimental impact of commercial menthol tobacco products on Black communities and promoting tobacco-free living.

In preparation for this significant day, The SOL Project distributed No Menthol Sunday fans and educational materials to several churches in the Greater Sacramento Valley Region, including:

These partnerships underscore the vital role faith leaders play in educating and empowering their congregations to make informed health decisions.

Menthol cigarettes have long been marketed aggressively to Black communities, with the minty flavor making it easier to start smoking and harder to quit. This targeted marketing has contributed to significant health disparities. By collaborating with local churches, The SOL Project aims to counteract these tactics, providing resources and support to promote healthier lifestyles.

The SOL Project remains committed to working alongside The Center for Black Health & Equity and faith-based partners to continue raising awareness about the dangers of menthol tobacco products. Together, we strive to create smoke-free environments and support community members on their journey to cessation.
